Obituary

Elizabeth Ann (Merryman Fobes) Doerschlag, age 41, of Hoisington, Kansas, was called home by her heavenly Father on December 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her youngest child, Lillian Clare, her mother, Karen, her maternal grandparents, Irene and Harold Hamilton, and her paternal grandfather, Gilbert Merryman.

Elizabeth was born December 3, 1984, in Wamego, Kansas, where she spent the first 14 years of her life. She was born to Bradley and Karen (Hamilton) Merryman. In 1999 she moved with her mother to Colby, Kansas where she attended and graduated from Colby High School in 2003. After graduation she went to work as a certified nursing assistant at Logan County Hospital in Oakley, Kansas. There she met her first husband, Derek Fobes. They were married on December 30, 2003. In their 6 year marriage, they had two children, Irene Rowe and Coleton Griffith. Elizabeth was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom while her children were little. Many years later Elizabeth moved to Hoisington, Kansas to work for the ambulance department. It was there that she met Don Doerschlag. They quickly fell in love and were united in marriage on May 26, 2017. They spent 10 wonderful years cramming a lifetime of loving and living into that short amount of time.

She is survived by: her husband, Don of the home; her ex-husband, Derek and their children, Irene and Coleton all of Jewell, Kansas; two step children, Alexis Doerschlag of Missouri and Nicholas Doerschlag of Minnesota; father, Brad (Jeff Monague) of Topeka, Kansas; paternal grandmother, Karla of Wamego, Kansas; brother, Nick (Jessica Dieter) of Randle, Washington; along with several other family members and close friends.

Elizabeth spent her entire career in healthcare in one capacity or another. She started as a CNA, then became an EMT, and after much encouragement from her husband, she became a licensed practical nurse in 2018. She also received an associate degree in pharmacy technology in 2013.
